The prison guard administers the hard strokes with the strap, and counts the strokes out loud, methodically administering each stroke without any pause. The prisoners moans and gasps get louder as the punishment proceeds, but she has accepted her fate.
Once the punishment is complete, the guard examines the prisoners red, bruised and sore bottom, before they are untied and taken back to their cell.
